Butamirate Citrate acts directly on the brain's cough center, medulla oblongata, to suppress cough. Butamirate Citrate is safe and non-sedating, which is neither chemically nor pharmacologically related to opium alkaloids. Butamirate Citrate is rapidly and completely absorbed after oral administration and starts working within 30 mins. The active metabolites of Butamirate Citrate also have antitussive action.
