Baclofen is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant and antispastic agent used in the management of spasticity, muscle spasm, and low back pain. It acts by stimulating GABA-B receptor in the spinal cord, reducing excitatory neurotransmission and reflex overactivity associated with upper motor neuron disorders.
Baclofen is indicated in spasticity related to Multiple sclerosis, Spinal cord injury, Cerebral palsy, and post-Stroke. Additionally, it has recognized off-label applications in migraine prevention, Hiccups, dysfunctional voiding, Trigeminal neuralgia, and Gastroesophageal reflux disease.
