Traxef (Ceftriaxone) is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic widely used to treat a broad range of bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death.
It is effective against many gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, including common pathogens causing pneumonia, meningitis, septicemia, urinary tract infections, and typhoid fever. Ceftriaxone is usually administered intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM) and has a long half-life, allowing once- or twice-daily dosing.
