Xonimide

Xonimide (Zonisamide) is an anticonvulsant belonging to the class of sulfonamide derivatives used in epilepsy management. It is indicated for the treatment of partial seizures, with or without secondary generalization. Its special feature is its multiple mechanisms of action, including blockade of voltage-gated sodium and T-type calcium channels, which stabilize neuronal membranes and reduce abnormal excitability in the central nervous system.
